Home to some of the more affordable deep waterfront properties in the Shire, Gymea Bay is one of the most visually impressive suburbs in the Sutherland Shire with a substantial number of homes capturing the area’s spectacular water and national park views.
The first residential subdivision was made in 1917 and it was not until the 1950’s that an intensive phase of development began. In common with most other suburbs of the Sutherland Shire, many of the recreational opportunities centre on the local waterways of Gymea Bay. Popular activities include waterskiing, wakeboarding and swimming from the bay up to South West Arm where exclusively private pockets of beach can be accessed only via boat.
Gymea Bay primary school caters for children from kindergarten to year 6 and adjoins the suburbs oval, which is in close proximity to Gymea shopping village, restaurants and transport.
